Introduction
Ypthima baldus, known as Common Five-ring, is a small buttfly with wingspan around 35-45mm. It is one of the most widely distributed butterflies in Hong Kong and can be seen throughout the year.
Apperance
Common Five-ring has different seasonal form. In dry season, the eyespot pattern in hindwing is smaller than wet season, and with the rise of temperature, eyespots will become bigger in next generation.
Behaviour
Larvae of common five-ring host plants from Gramineae family.
